Axewound: Vultures

   AXEWOUND
  VULTURES
Ever wondered what could be better than Bullet For My Valentine or Cancer Bats? Well how about the two of them blended together in one fantastic new super band that prove just how alive metal is in 2012.
Axewound's unique sound is a mixture of Metal core, Death and Thrash metal in equal measure. Liam Cormier from Canadian metal kings Cancer Bats, takes the spot light of Axewound. With Liam's savage screams and unique vocal style, it quickly becomes obvious why he is front man. Matthew Tuck from Welsh Titans Bullet For My Valentine, takes a step back from his normal vocalist day job and focuses on throwing out riffs at an machine gun rate. Songs such as "Cold", "Exorchrist" and "Burn Alive" see Matt step up to lend a hand with vocals, resulting in some of the catchiest choruses ever created. "Collide" is the quietest song on the album and on this track Matt takes the main vocal duty.
Ex Rise To Remain bassist Joe Copcutt, Glamour Of The Kill guitarist Mike Kingswood and Pitchshifter drummer Jason Bowld complete the super group line up.
For a clearer look at the album, here is 3 tracks that stand out above the rest:

1.) Vultures
A killer start to the album, this track will eliminate any trepidation you may have had about what this super group is all about. This is an all round great track; an amazing intro, brutal vocals, solid riffs and a guitar solo by Avenged Sevenfold's own Axe man, Synyster Gates that will leave you in complete awe and thirst for more metal.

2.) Post Apocalypse Party
The second track on the album continues the feeling of pure brilliance displayed in the first track Vultures. Not only does this song contain some fantastic lyrics and some brilliant instrumentals, but also one of the greatest breakdowns of the album. Possibly the best breakdown ever. This raw slice of bubbling Metal core brutality sets the bar very highly for all bands in the Metal world.

3.) Burn Alive
This track presents a heavy, Thrash Metal feel with riffs that will leave you headbanging in tune. We also get a dose of the Metal core style riffs that we hear in Post Apocalypse Party. This track also contains an incredibly infectious, contagious, clean chorus by Matt Tuck which will get you screaming every time.

Overall, Vultures is by far one of the greatest Metal albums released in recent history. While Axewound members like Matt Tuck and Liam Cormier maintain they are still dedicated to their day jobs (BFMV and Cancer Bats respectively) it is obvious that this band will go on to become a favorite of many Metal fans. With a debut album like this how could they be anything less? This album will no doubt leave listeners hungry to mosh and starving for future releases.

EXODUS: PERSONA NON GRATA

EXODUS: PERSONA NON GRATA         The Thrash Metal hierarchy has long been constructed around the mainstream success of the American "Big Four", dwarfing their peers outside of the clique with their mass popularity and stratospheric record sales. Thanks to bands such as Exodus, Testament and Overkill, a revolution has begun. The most recent releases from those bands comprising the Big Four have been good at best, while the latest albums from these previously mentioned outsiders have been breathtakingly excellent.    Persona Non Grata is a crushingly heavy slab of solid Thrash Metal. Gary Holt and fellow guitarist Lee Altus whip up a veritable storm of crunchy, Thrashing, whiplash-inducing riffs from start to finish. A superhuman barrage of drum battery is unleashed by Tom Hunting, accompanied by Jack Gibson's booming, thundering and raking bass notes. All the while Steve Souza sings, screams and snarls like a rabid and possessed vocal maestro....

MASSACRE: RESURGENCE

MASSACRE: RESURGENCE      Like the walking dead, Massacre just keep coming back time after time. Refusing to stay down, this band simply won't die. To survive, Massacre takes on a new form every ascension, this time they have re-emerged as the Kam Lee band, with the legendary vocalist being the most consistent and regular member of the band over the years and through the numerous reformations.   The Massacre that we are faced with here on Resurgence could be considered as something of a Death-Metal supergroup. Comprising the band alongside Kam Lee; we have Mike Borders on bass guitar whom was previously a member of the band for short spell in the mid 1980's, alongside Jonny Pettersson of Wombbath (and countless other bands and projects) and Rogga Johansson of Paganizer (and possibly even more bands and projects than Jonny) on guitars, Brynjar Helgetun on drums, and Memoriam's resident riff-lord Scott Fairfax providing lead guitar. United this band of talented ...
