Motionless In White: Infamous

Motionless In White

Infamous

There are certain bands and sub-genres in the Metal music world that all fans are united by a love for. Metalcore however, is not one of those sub-genres. Although it is becoming an increasingly popular side of Metal music due to bands such as Bring Me The Horizon, Architects and Parkway Drive, there is no doubt that for some people it is still fashionable to dislike Metalcore. Despite this, Metalcore has evolved, developed and drastically increased in the number of bands under this sub-genre over the last few years. This new wave has seen bands such While She Sleeps, Devil Sold His Soul and Bury Tomorrow erupt into immense popularity and success. Motionless In White are one of those bands.
Infamous is the follow up to debut album, Creatures. There is an undeniable change in style between Creatures and Infamous, although both albums have a distinct sound exclusive to Motionless In White. The growth in Motionless In White's success since Creatures is becoming increasingly obvious. Tours with Asking Alexandria and a guest appearance on the Infamous single, "If It's Dead, We'll Kill It" by Breeding Through vocalist Brandan Schieppati, are just further proof of this.
The quality and song structure has changed greatly since Creatures. Infamous incorporates other styles and takes on Metal, as opposed to the thick and fast brutal break downs that constructed most of the tracks on Creatures. That said, songs such as "If It's Dead, We'll Kill It", "Devil's Night" and "Puppets 2" do include some of the crushing breakdowns that helped to define Motionless In White and Metalcore. Most of the songs also have the very distinctive synthesizer or electronic sections and breakdowns that were highly prominent on Creatures. Vocally, Infamous is both similar to the debut and very different at the same time. Chris Cerulli's haunting roars and screams are a key ingredient on both of Motionless In White's albums. The clean sung sections are also in great abundance here. The vocal difference is in the croaking, Marilyn Manson style singing. This style makes songs such as "The Divine Intervention" and "Hatef**k" have anthem style lyrics and choruses.
Overall Infamous is an amazing album. It may be Motionless In White's second album, but its just as raw, fresh and brutal as Creatures. Line up changes since the debut album has left the instrumentals more together and powerful than ever. Distinctive sky scraping riffs, light speed drumming, skull crushing breakdowns and throat bleeding screams make this album a true monolith in Metalcore. Anyone expecting an album identical  Creatures may be slightly disappointed, but "disappointment" and "Infamous" are two words that wont sit in the same sentence for long. This album is only set to make Motionless In White more successful and become  many peoples new favorite band.

EXODUS: PERSONA NON GRATA

EXODUS: PERSONA NON GRATA         The Thrash Metal hierarchy has long been constructed around the mainstream success of the American "Big Four", dwarfing their peers outside of the clique with their mass popularity and stratospheric record sales. Thanks to bands such as Exodus, Testament and Overkill, a revolution has begun. The most recent releases from those bands comprising the Big Four have been good at best, while the latest albums from these previously mentioned outsiders have been breathtakingly excellent.    Persona Non Grata is a crushingly heavy slab of solid Thrash Metal. Gary Holt and fellow guitarist Lee Altus whip up a veritable storm of crunchy, Thrashing, whiplash-inducing riffs from start to finish. A superhuman barrage of drum battery is unleashed by Tom Hunting, accompanied by Jack Gibson's booming, thundering and raking bass notes. All the while Steve Souza sings, screams and snarls like a rabid and possessed vocal maestro....

MASSACRE: RESURGENCE

MASSACRE: RESURGENCE      Like the walking dead, Massacre just keep coming back time after time. Refusing to stay down, this band simply won't die. To survive, Massacre takes on a new form every ascension, this time they have re-emerged as the Kam Lee band, with the legendary vocalist being the most consistent and regular member of the band over the years and through the numerous reformations.   The Massacre that we are faced with here on Resurgence could be considered as something of a Death-Metal supergroup. Comprising the band alongside Kam Lee; we have Mike Borders on bass guitar whom was previously a member of the band for short spell in the mid 1980's, alongside Jonny Pettersson of Wombbath (and countless other bands and projects) and Rogga Johansson of Paganizer (and possibly even more bands and projects than Jonny) on guitars, Brynjar Helgetun on drums, and Memoriam's resident riff-lord Scott Fairfax providing lead guitar. United this band of talented ...
