5 Of The Best THRASH METAL albums EVER. (Part 2)
There is no possible way that any mortal could choose just 5 Thrash albums to be crowned the best of all time. The idea inconceivable. Most loyal Metal-Heads would be unable to shorten such a list to less than three digits. This next list of 5 albums certainly wont contain all of the best Thrash albums, but it will contain some of them. So here goes, get your battle jackets and be prepared to throw the horns in the name of the greatest Sub-genre of them all.
1: METALLICA: ..AND JUSTICE FOR ALL
For some this is the last great Metallica album, for others its just another star in the bands prestigious catalogue. Whichever side of the fence you reside, ...And Justice For All is largely heralded as one of the best albums of Metallica's career, And who can blame those who think it is? With classics like the monumental opener, "Blackened" and the tear-jerking "One", what isn't to like?
...And Justice For All is Metallica's darkest and heaviest album. It was also the first album to feature now legendary bassist, Jason Newsted, after the tragic death of their long serving brother in arms, Cliff Burton. Whatever the dark and fallacious events that transpired against Metallica were, they certainly left behind a scar. A scar that shines brighter that Lightening and sounds a thousand times louder than thunder. The gargantuan Thrash riffs of classics such as "Eye Of The Beholder" and "Harvester Of Sorrow" are guaranteed to give you both Whiplash and a reason far greater than most to throw the horns in the direction of Godfathers of Thrash.
2: ANTHRAX: SPREADING THE DISEASE
Anthrax have spent their entire career spreading the Metal with blow after blow of truly game changing albums. For many fans Spreading The Disease may not be their favorite album, but any Thrash fan will hold a special place in their heart for slices of the purest neck cracking Thrash like "A.I.R" and live classic "Madhouse". Among The Living will always be Anthrax's real breakthrough classic, but Spreading The Disease is where they really became one of the biggest and best contenders to the Thrash throne. Not to mention, going on to earn themselves a spot as one of the American big 4 of Thrash-Metal. Besides, no-one can resist singing along to the classic "Lone Justice".
3: TESTAMENT:
THE FOUNDATION OF DAMNATION
For a band that were strangely neglected from the recognition that lead to the American Big 4, they have created an album far better than most of the albums of the bands belonging to that conglomerate. That might be a bold proclamation, but in reality, The Foundation Of Damnation is a brilliant barrage of furious Thrash. In fact, the title track contains one of the most incredible Thrash breakdowns in the history of the sub-genre. The album also boasts killer tracks such as the brutal, "More Than Meets the Eye" and the magnificent 9/11 tribute of "The Evil Has Landed". There is no aspect of this album that can disappoint. The riffs are astounding. Chuck Billy's vocals vary between the gruff, fast paced Thrash shouts, to his signature plummeting Death style growls. Every song really drives home the true essence of Thrash, making it an essential in an Thrashers collection. What more can you ask for?
4: MUNICIPAL WASTE:
MASSIVE AGGRESSIVE
No Thrasher can resist the party style of Municipal Waste. They might be a younger band, but they certainly know how to throw up some spine shattering riffs. Despite having many amazing releases, Massive Aggressive is arguably their best to date. And with tracks like "Wrong Answer" and "Acid Sentence", you can hear why.
Municipal Waste are leading the way in the new wave of Thrash, along with bands such as Toxic Holocaust, Gama Bomb and Evile. As is the way with all new waves and bands, fans of the old bands will have reservations and difficulties liking the new ones. Municipal Waste are beyond that stage though and have solidified their place as one of the greatest Metal acts of the last decade, and albums like Massive Aggressive are why.
5: SODOM: M16
Sodom are one of the greatest German Metal bands of all time. Along with fellow Thrashers Kreator, Destruction and Tankard, they form the German Teutonic Big 4 of Thrash Metal. M16 is an album entirely dedicated to war and as expected, it goes off with one hell of a bang.
As well as being the perfect soundtrack to a game on Call Of Duty, M16 is a superb ear assault of precise, brain battering riffs. It also contains some seriously strong lyrical imagery, perfectly demonstrated in songs such as "Marines" and "Genocide". Although M16 wasn't quite as successful as the masterful, Agent Orange, it does have a unique sound and generates an atmosphere unlike any other album. Sodom are fortunate enough to be one of those bands that haven't really had a creative demise with any of their albums. Even in the more recent years the albums they have made have all been great beacons of Thrash. But for many fans, M16 will never be matched for its pure, straight to the bone Thrash.

Please Remember that the albums chosen for this list are entirely of my own opinion and that is why I have phrased the list "5 of the best". There are many many more amazing Thrash albums out there :) \m/
