Cadaveric Incubator: Sermons Of The Devouring Dead

CADAVERIC INCUBATOR:

SERMONS OF THE DEVOURING DEAD

Finnish purveyors of filthy noise Cadaveric Incubator, have uncovered the age old secrets of managing to be extreme, underground, yet not take themselves too seriously.
Debut full-length Sermons Of The Devouring Dead, is a delightful delicacy of putrid grinding old-school Death-Metal with all the gritty trimmings and is undeniably a lot of fun.
Musically, the album is superb yet simplistic, collecting a wide variety of inspirations and influences and wearing them plainly on their sleeves. Put plainly, if you want to hear what the love child of Autopsy, Asphyx and Carcass would sound like, then here is your chance.
"Gravestench Asphyxiation" packs a rotten punch, with virtually Brown Noise low level riffage and prolapse inducing bass tones. Tracks such as "Hideous Premonition" and "The Undead Fiend" focus heavily on the Gore-grind ways of legends such as Exhumed and Carcass' early years, while "Cadaveric Incubator" and "The Covenant Of Gore" opt for a more early Master, even Venom inspired attack of crunchy, primal Thrashing and all out whiplash speeds.
"Rite Of Eibon" is a dismal outing of highly atmospheric Death-Doom, like a primitive interpretation of Grave Miasma's strain of audio darkness, which is in stark contrast to the following brain-rattling grind racket of "Massacred".  Purists of the old-school Death-Metal ways will find sanctuary in tracks such as "Unburied Abominations" and "Conceived In Filth" which boast heaped helpings of iconic buzzsaw guitar work, thudding blastbeats, gnarly vocals and unchallenging grooves.
Overall, Sermons Of The Devouring Dead is an enjoyable piece of work with a very honest, down to earth approach with a massive appeal. The frequent calls for "thrash" and "guitars" certainly help to give the album a more grounded and approachable vibe. It is surprising just how hooked you can be, and how impressive it is that Cadaveric Incubator can make an 29 minute long album significantly more dynamic and interesting than a lot of their peers and predecessors. Anticipations are as high as the bar is set for Cadaveric Incubator's follow up offerings.

BEAST IN BLACK: DARK CONNECTION

BEAST IN BLACK:  DARK CONNECTION     Bombastic, heavy, wild and fun, Dark Connection is everything that any obliging listener can expect to hear from Finnish whippersnappers Beast In Black.      Saturated with synths, electronics and plenty of twiddling guitars, the album has a very European (or more specifically Scandinavian) Pop vibe, more prevalent here than on Beast In Black's previous efforts. That said, there is no shortage of cracking riffs, slamming drums and impressive vocals.     Kicking off in dramatic fashion, " Blade Runner " offers up an seizure inducing blur of riffs and crazed keys. Sounding like a disco injected Judas Priest, " Bella Donna " is bizzare yet undeniably infectious and catchy. With a great sing-along chorus, crunchy Metallic riffs and an abundance of synths and keys, " Highway To Mars " is another groovy staple. Offering a little more heaviness, " Hardcore " pounds and thunders along like a softer Sab...
