We Came As Romans: Tracing Back Roots

We Came As Romans: Tracing Back Roots        In a sub-genre saturated with generic material it can be an impossible conquest for a band to standout from the crowd, but every once in an age a true diamond in the rough is discovered. It seems that the latest diamond to be uncovered belongs to American Metal-Core mob, We Came As Romans.     Tracing Back Roots has no shortage of the Metal-Core staples such as Blast-Beat Breakdowns, clean sung choruses and screamed sections, but its this simple rearrangement of the sub-genres signature moves that has paid off for We Came As Romans. The breakdowns are more brutal than ever before, the clean singing is done with more visible emotion and passion designed to restrain the listeners attention, and of course the screams are essentially as throat shredding as possible.     The songs are as strong as you would expect from a fast rising sub-genre star. Tracks such as " Fade Away " and " Hope " provide the head-bang rhyth

New Blood Bands: Svet Kant

No Nonsense Metal Reviews New Blood Bands Worth Hunting : SVET KANT     Its no secret that in this day and age, young bands can find it virtually impossible to get themselves off the ground. That failure to leave the runway can destroy potentially world changing talent before they have even had a chance to prove themselves. Demo recordings and local gigging might be the most basic means of spreading the word, but they are definitely the most effective. For proof of this just look at a band like Necropsy. After all, the worlds greatest bands had to have started somewhere. However, one enormous contributor to band recognition and discovery is obviously the Internet, something Necropsy didn't have on their side back in their active years.     So by using the medium of the Internet, anyone can tell everyone about newly uncovered bands and songs. That is exactly what this "New Blood Worth Hunting" article is all about. First up for interrogation is Dublin bas

Coffins: The Fleshland

COFFINS: THE FLESHLAND    Spoiler alert. If you're looking for chart topping dance anthems or songs about kittens, The Fleshland is probably not the album for you. If on the other hand you're in search of putrid distorted riffs and Bowel prolapsing Satanic growls, then step right this way.     The Fleshland is the fourth full-length release from Japanese Death-Metal maniacs, Coffins. The reality is that the dirty riffs and screaming vocals combination has been done millions of times before, but credit where credits due, Coffins have baked something quite spectacular with just those basic ingredients. The sound achieved on The Fleshland will certainly appeal to most fans of Death and Grind Metal, especially fans of bands such as Autopsy and Symphonies Of Sickness era Carcass.     The Fleshland opens with the squelching, mushing intro of " Here Comes Perdition ", before surging into a swamp of thick, gelatinous riffs half way through the opener. Next up is

Warbeast Interview: No Nonsense Metal Interviews

NNMR :No Nonsense Metal Interviews WARBEAST    Every once in a while a genuinely brilliant band will come along, a band like Warbeast for example. With their blend of concrete heavy Thrash riffs and crushing speeds, it wont be long before Warbeast becomes a byword for all that is good and brutal in this world. Anyone who was lucky enough to witness them laying waste to stages across Europe last year with the legendary Down, will know that Warbeast's brilliance isn't just confined to your ipod's.     Whether its the input of their producer and friend Philip. H Anselmo, or their explosive energy both on the road and on record, there certainly is something feeding this beasts success. No Nonsense Metal decided that it would be a wise move to get in touch with the rising stars of the riff, to find out just whats going on in the Warbeast camp.          How are things going for Warbeast at the moment? Scott Shelby - Things have been going great and it has b

Huntress: Starbound Beast

HUNTRESS: STARBOUND BEAST        Basically, you can't really go wrong with this album. Starbound Beast has all the chugging riffs and solos you could possibly need. As for front women Jill Janus' vocals there are plenty of soaring shrieks and window shattering screams, but she also has what it takes to appeal to even the most die-hard Chris Barnes enthusiasts. Not forgetting the abundance of whiplash inducing, headbang worthy, Doom infused Thrash rhythms.    Starbound Beast is the perfect continuation from 2012's Spell Eater, with songs just as powerful and memorable as those on the last album. The Lemmy Kilmister co-written " I Want To F**k You To Dead ", is a muscular display of musicianship with an undeniably memorable chorus. " Destroy Your Life " and the Black-Metal tinted " Oricle " bring the true Heavy Metal speed with an entire festivals worth of solos each. Meanwhile " Receiver " demonstrates Jill's vocal capabilit

Mumakil: Flies Will Starve

MUMAKIL: FLIES WILL STARVE    Think Grind-Core is dead? Well clearly you haven't heard Flies Will Starve yet. This slab of Death infused Grind perfectly demonstrates just how alive this style of music really is. As with any modern Grind-Core or Death-Grind bands, you can easily detect the musical influences. In other words, this album will satisfy fans of Napalm Death, Nasum, Carcass and Bolt Thrower, but even fans of more straight forward Death-Metal should feel right at home here. As long as you love your music loaded with brain battering brutality, then Mumakil really have got something for everyone.    The 24 tracks stuffed into this album may last just over 30 minuets, but its 30 minuets of pure mountain crushing riffs, over-driven bass, Satan scaring screams and light speed drumming. Tracks like, " War Therapist ", and " Unfair For Whom? ", carry that genre defining riff, only describable as being dirty, crushing and mosh inducing. " Get Exorc
