CARNIFLOOR: PROCESS OF DISORDERLY CONDUCT

CARNIFLOOR: PROCESS OF DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Engineered by Korpse guitarist and all round Slamicidal genius Floor Van Kuijk, Carnifloor is a one man Slam machine of immense magnitude. Debut full-length album, Process Of Disorderly Conduct is a solid slab of concentrated barbaric Slamming Death Metal. A streamlined and sophisticated release, there are no solos, no samples, just pure uncompromising audio savagery. Unsurprisingly, Carnifloor's music is highly reminiscent of Floor's other musical outlets, such as; Fermented Masturbation and Korpse. That said, Process Of Disorderly Conduct has a fresh faced approach to complete musical armageddon, breathing life into a highly used and abused sound and style of Death-Metal.
The album itself is well produced and crammed with heavy bass drops, Slamming grooves, blastbeats and maximum distortion. The album is also very well structured and flows beautifully with enough uniqueness and creativity to keep your ears hooked and delighted for the full 29 minutes running time.
Album introduction "05211960", is a welcoming greeting, unleashing the stomping Slams, breakdown riffing and the sub-genre's defining use of, St Anger-esque snare drum pinging. "Obscene Intentions" houses some amazing vocal skills, with distinct, Vulvodynia style gutturals cutting through a monstrous breakdown, providing the perfect accompaniment to the piston pounding, forge battering Slam riffs. "Acid Purification" is notable for it's rhythmic swagger, thundering bass tones and crushing drops, technical guitar work and a riff that, bizarre though it may be, is undeniably reminiscent of, Slipknot's "Metabolic". "Disposable Pleasure Servant", is a definite album highlight which can only be described as a surging tide of fuzzy riffing Slam hammering cataclysm.
The marching grooves and rolling, pounding blasts and riffs that comprise, "Paralyzed Strangulation", are pure audio ecstasy and suit the, Chris Barnes style vocal passages which are featured here perfectly. "Necrophilic Addiction" is a Slamming Brutal Death-Metal masterclass, a whirlwind of blastbeats and traditional Slam vibes, but also contains one of the greatest riffs of the whole album, a speed attack of rhythmic, classic Whitechapel style Deathcore fury.
"Cannibalistic Masturbation", is far more Brutal Death-metal in sound with crunchy old-school riffs infused into the thick, abysmal Slams. "Altar Of Necropsy", displays some great guitar intricacy and screeching leads, wrapped in walls of classic crunching riffs which sound rather, Six Feet Under in nature.
Closing track, "Regenerate", opens with an extremely familiar riff, giving a nod to the sounds of the sub-genre greats, Kraanium. For the closing track, the kickdrum is sent into overdrive, as the nuclear blast bass drops resonate through the "breeing" vocal apocalypse. The Slipknot riffs are aired again in force, adding to the tracks overwhelming intensity.
Overall, Process Of Disorderly Conduct is a strong album and a worthy contender to the efforts of even the Slam and Brutal Death-Metal greats. With no samples and no bells and whistles, the album is instead filled with nothing but utter brutality and creativity, resulting in some of the most crushingly heavy music around.

EXODUS: PERSONA NON GRATA

EXODUS: PERSONA NON GRATA         The Thrash Metal hierarchy has long been constructed around the mainstream success of the American "Big Four", dwarfing their peers outside of the clique with their mass popularity and stratospheric record sales. Thanks to bands such as Exodus, Testament and Overkill, a revolution has begun. The most recent releases from those bands comprising the Big Four have been good at best, while the latest albums from these previously mentioned outsiders have been breathtakingly excellent.    Persona Non Grata is a crushingly heavy slab of solid Thrash Metal. Gary Holt and fellow guitarist Lee Altus whip up a veritable storm of crunchy, Thrashing, whiplash-inducing riffs from start to finish. A superhuman barrage of drum battery is unleashed by Tom Hunting, accompanied by Jack Gibson's booming, thundering and raking bass notes. All the while Steve Souza sings, screams and snarls like a rabid and possessed vocal maestro....

MASSACRE: RESURGENCE

MASSACRE: RESURGENCE      Like the walking dead, Massacre just keep coming back time after time. Refusing to stay down, this band simply won't die. To survive, Massacre takes on a new form every ascension, this time they have re-emerged as the Kam Lee band, with the legendary vocalist being the most consistent and regular member of the band over the years and through the numerous reformations.   The Massacre that we are faced with here on Resurgence could be considered as something of a Death-Metal supergroup. Comprising the band alongside Kam Lee; we have Mike Borders on bass guitar whom was previously a member of the band for short spell in the mid 1980's, alongside Jonny Pettersson of Wombbath (and countless other bands and projects) and Rogga Johansson of Paganizer (and possibly even more bands and projects than Jonny) on guitars, Brynjar Helgetun on drums, and Memoriam's resident riff-lord Scott Fairfax providing lead guitar. United this band of talented ...

BEAST IN BLACK: DARK CONNECTION

BEAST IN BLACK:  DARK CONNECTION     Bombastic, heavy, wild and fun, Dark Connection is everything that any obliging listener can expect to hear from Finnish whippersnappers Beast In Black.      Saturated with synths, electronics and plenty of twiddling guitars, the album has a very European (or more specifically Scandinavian) Pop vibe, more prevalent here than on Beast In Black's previous efforts. That said, there is no shortage of cracking riffs, slamming drums and impressive vocals.     Kicking off in dramatic fashion, " Blade Runner " offers up an seizure inducing blur of riffs and crazed keys. Sounding like a disco injected Judas Priest, " Bella Donna " is bizzare yet undeniably infectious and catchy. With a great sing-along chorus, crunchy Metallic riffs and an abundance of synths and keys, " Highway To Mars " is another groovy staple. Offering a little more heaviness, " Hardcore " pounds and thunders along like a softer Sab...
